Cora Doberman Pinscher Adult Female in Denver, Colorado

My story
Cora is a 4 year old female blue doberman weighing at 65 pounds. She is thought to be pure bred, although she is not well bred. She was rescued from severe neglect turned abuse and was not properly socialized so she is nervous with new people and in busy situations, but she handles it well. Cora has been around a multitude of other dogs of all ages and sizes, as well as cats of all ages, and children. She does well with almost all dogs with proper introductions but is a dominant female and has had some tussles with another large female. Cora is house and crate trained but is opportunistic so the trash needs to be out of reach, as does any cat food. Cora is mildly food aggressive with other animals (never people) due to her past so she does need to be fed separately. Due to her color and past neglect, cora must remain on nexgard or bravecto year around to keep her skin as healthy as possible. She has Color Dilution Alopecia and will never grow a full coat of hair, she wears coats or sweaters outside in the winter and can not be left out in the hot sun for long periods so she doesnt sun burn, but she has never had to have sunscreen applied. Cora is an EXTREMELY active dog and will benefit from a home who does alot of running or hiking, who will include her in those activities. Her favorite place in the couch and she will lounge for hours. Cora will require a fully fenced back yard to run and play in, no apartments will be considered. Cora is on two medications, one is FOR LIFE, and it is for her thyroid disease which she will have to have monitored by yearly bloodwork and a large supply will go with her to her adoptive family. The other medication is for anxiety, and she will likely be able to be weaned off of the medication AT A VETERNARIANS DISCRETION AND DIRECTION, in a different home environment. She will also have a large supply of that medication sent with her. Neither medication is expensive, but we encourage you to check with your veterinarian on prices of thyroid bloodwork and medication costs before applying to adopt Cora. Despite her past, she is an absolute joy to be around. She loves with her whole heart and I truly believe she knows how close to death she was and is thankful for every day she has on earth. Please consider adding cora to your family. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application at /dog-adoption-application/  The adoption fee of $250 includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and dewormer.
